Josephine

When Josephine arrived, here in the dead of winter with her week old calf, she was only known by the numbered tag in her ear, #540.
Josephine was an older jersey cow, and her milk production had started to slow down, so sadly, that would have been the end of her. But we welcomed in her and her little guy, Frankie.
Now, being a dairy cow, year after year, her calves were taken from her. The milk she produced was meant for her calves, but that's not how the dairy industry works.
This time, she and Frankie will spend their days together. 
She is such a doting momma. She keeps an eye on Frankie, and it is pure joy to see these two together.  It does a heart good.
